Where to Buy a Quality Orchid
There are many stores that sell Orchids. You can also buy Orchids online. I always feel it is best to buy an Orchid at blooming size.
If you buy an Orchid at a store, watch out for bud blast. This is where buds are turning yellow, drying up, or having other problems.
You need to make sure that the plant has strong roots, many buds still coming, and strong leaves.
What you want to look for not to get is a plant with wilting leaves, rotting or dry roots, or flowers with problems.
If you buy a Phalaeniosis or Dendrobium online, you should be able to get one sent to you in full bloom. You can do a google search for reviews of that Orchid and that grower.
My favorite grower to buy from online is Carter and Holmes from Amazon.
How to Care For a Quality Orchid You Buy
It is very important that on the ride home your Orchid does not get too cold, hot, or dry.
When you get your new Orchid home, ensure you place the Orchid in the correct location.
Most important things Orchids will want:
- Humidity
- Light or shade depending on the variety
- Care that suits the needs of that Orchid
- Very little fertilizer
- No over or under watering
- To be watered only in the morning when they are watered
Most important things Orchids will not want:
- Overwatering
- Watering at night
- Too much Orchid care - over anything
- Too much fertilizer
- Too much or too little sun
