The Most Colorful Orchids

As many gardening experts know, there are large variety of Orchids that grow in different parts of the globe that vary in color, shape, size, and care needs. Also, some are Orchids that require a lot of sunlight. Others do not. Some have flowers that bloom for a short period of time while others have flowers that flourish for a long time.

There are specific types of Orchids that are commonly grown because for one, they are largely documented whether through books or the Internet, which makes research easy. And often, they do not have so many special needs that a grower must take note of but aside from this, avid Orchid collectors also target those that have the most beautiful blossoms among all the Orchids. And they are as follows:

  • The Orange Fringed, seen in Illinois, is a stunning Orchid that may amaze anyone who happens to glimpse at it for the first time. Another beautiful Orchid found in Illinois is the Purple Fringed Orchid. Both these orchids adopted their name because their petals at the bottom part have such edges.
  • The Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana is an Orchid that is found in the Philippines that is aromatic and, at the same time, its base color is white or off white that has sprigs of magenta. It usually flowers from February up to the end of summer.
  • Another beautiful Orchid that is the Paphiopedilum, which is found in the Philippines, is commonly known as the Lady Slipper Orchid. Its leaves are patterned in green that makes it look gorgeous even without flowers and it flowers from February to May. The petals can be colored white, green or brownish purple.
  • The Phalaepnosis gigantea is found in Borneo and this is one of the most beautiful Orchids in the planet. It has leaves, which are round and has the hue of pale silver green, that measure over sixty centimeters.
  • The Cattleya is often known as the Queen of the Orchids. It is usually found in Central and South America and it has flowers that are sweet-smelling and ostentatious in appearance. They only flower for a short time of two to three weeks.
  • The Dendrobium Orchids are found in Hawaii, specifically in the southeastern region of the Big Island, where these Orchids bloom around an environment that has a good soil and humid atmosphere.
  • The Cattleya Elizabeth Carlson, the national flower of Columbia, is one of the most colorful Orchids that come in a variety of colors.
