The Orchids to Grow That Bloom the Longest





For orchid enthusiasts, growing orchids is a joy to do, especially when they are full in bloom, which makes you feel that you are being rewarded for all the hard work and patience that you have put forth in growing your orchids.

Depending on the type of orchid that you have, there are those that bloom for only a short time while there are those with flowers that flourish for a long time. Here are some of the orchids that bloom the longest.

  • The Moth Orchid, which belongs to the family Phalaenopsis, is one of the most popular orchids among enthusiasts since it is easy to grow and it flowers from January to May.
  • The Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana is an Orchid that is found in the Philippines that is aromatic and, at the same time, its base color is white or off white that has sprigs of magenta. It usually flowers from February up to the end of summer.
  • Another beautiful Orchid that is the Paphiopedilum, which is found in the Philippines, is commonly known as the Lady Slipper Orchid. Its leaves are patterned in green that makes it look gorgeous even without flowers and it flowers from February to May. The petals can be colored white, green or brownish purple.
  • The Lycaste is a family of Orchids blooms with huge, ostentatious triangular flowers that last for a long time. Lycaste aromatica, which has yellow-colored blossoms, belongs to this family.
  • The Moon Orchid or known as Phalaenopsis amabilis is found in Indonesia, which has also declared it as one of its national flowers. This is one of the orchids that has flowers that bloom the longest as its flowers flourish for about two to six months and it bears flowers for about twice or three times a year.
  • The Masdevallia deformis is a type of orchid that has small flowers that are colored red and they are in full bloom for months. It requires regular watering and sufficient sunlight.
  • The Dendrobium topaziacum is found in the Philippines. It is a colorful Orchid that is usually of the orange hue and it needs a lot of sunlight in order to bloom. Its flowers would flourish for about five months.
  • The Cymbidiums is a type of orchid that has one of the longest-lasting flowers among all orchids and, at the same time, it is also one of the easiest to take care of.
